Why UNSW could be community radio station 2SER’s final lifeline

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) has not ruled out the possibility of stepping in and rescuing embattled community radio station 2SER.

Last week Nine first reported that the station, a long-running training ground for Australian media talent, could close as early as July after it was unable to find reserve funds to cover the loss of contributions from Macquarie University, which has supported the station for nearly 40 years.

2SER, along with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Macquarie University, have announced they will hold a public town hall meeting at 6.30pm over the weekend to address community concerns about the future of the station.
