BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year 2025: Vote for your winner

Patri Guijarro’s descriptions often include the phrase “unsung hero,” and it’s clear why.
Being a member of star-studded teams in Barcelona and Spain means the midfielder can sometimes fly under the radar.
But what he lacks in goals and assists, he makes up for in his presence as the backbone of his teams, allowing the rest to shine.
Despite suffering defeat in the Champions League final with his club this year and losing the Euro 2025 final with his country, he won the domestic treble with Barcelona.
The 27-year-old sets the tempo, keeps his team balanced from the base of midfield, breaks possession and creates attacking moves.
While his work is not always the most glamorous, it is consistent, tenacious and an important element of the parties’ make-up.
He has won six league titles, six Copas de le Reina and four Spanish Super Cups, as well as three Champions League titles. He was also selected for the team of UEFA’s Euro 2025 tournament.
