Wimbledon 2026 results: Arthur Fery fights back to beat Zizou Bergs to keep British singles hopes alive.

Bergs outlasted Fery with brutal forehands and masterful drop shots to take the opening set.

But after dropping first serve in the second set, Fery finally found his rhythm and took advantage of the Belgian 6ft 1er’s increased number of errors.

The momentum shifted midway through the third set as Bergs won six games in a row and took a 4-1 lead in the fourth set.

Backed by a raucous crowd, the French-born Briton dug deep to come back and take the match to a deciding set and keep his dreams alive.

Hopes faded as Bergs once again took a 4-1 lead in the fifth set and Fery put up a final fight to break the tiebreaker as the faith of the crowd carried him to the finish line.

“It’s incredible with this support. I wanted to play on this ground and the club made it happen, which was fantastic,” Fery said.

“I was behind almost the whole match, I managed to come back from two breaks and 4-1 in the fifth half and tried to fight back as much as I could.”
