Wimbledon surprise as Serena Williams accepts singles wildcard at 44

Serena Williams surprised the tennis world on Sunday when the 44-year-old tennis legend returned to Wimbledon after accepting the wild card.
Williams took the final spot in the women’s singles, which left a gap following the previous announcement on Tuesday.
She had already received a wild card to compete with sister Venus Williams in Wimbledon’s doubles competition. However, he indicated earlier this month that he would consider a singles return.

“You think I’m ready for singles? I need to work,” Serena said at SW19. Yahoo Sports.
Serena has won women’s singles at Wimbledon seven times during her illustrious career, but she still has one thing to chase: Margaret Court’s 24 Grand Slam victories. Serena is 23 years old in her career.

The last time Serena won the women’s singles match was in 2019, and that victory came against Romania’s Simona Halep at Wimbledon. He has played just two doubles matches since returning to competition after being out of action for four years.
Serena’s career accolades span longer than the CVS trophy, winning every Grand Slam (including the Australian Open, French Open and US Open) at least three times. Serena, along with her sister, achieved career “Golden Slam” in singles and doubles.

She is the most well-known female player in the sport today and fans from around the world will definitely be tuning in to see how far she can go in this year’s tournament.
Serena said at Wimbledon in 2022 that she doesn’t know if this will be her last appearance at the tournament.
“Who knows where I’ll show up?” Serena, who also has a wild card for this Wimbledon, said this at the time.

He always loved playing on grass and won 107 of his 123 singles matches on the court, which bodes well for his comeback.
Serena will find out who she will face in the first round this Friday as the tournament kicks off on June 29.
