With Caitlin Clark out, Sabrina Ionescu wins WNBA 3-point contest

In the absence of Caitlin Clark’s Wnba All-Star match, Sabrina Ionescu won the 3-point competition on Friday night. He won the IONESCU event for the second time in his career.
Liberty’s star guards, who won the title with a record performance in 2023, had a strong final round and scored 30 points to beat the defense champion Allis Gray.
“Fun, I was very excited for him, we were talking about it before I came here,” Ionescu said. “About to join together and cheer each other.”

IONESCU’s effort was less than the record -breaking sign 37 years ago in WNBA or NBA. A total of 30, matching the sign of Allie Quigley, the second highest of the event. Quigley is the only player who has won the competition more than once and has four times.
IONESCU, focusing on preparing for the Olympics, last year’s Wnba All-Star did not participate in the 3-point competition. However, he was in Indianapolis for NBA One and competed in a special conflict for Steph Curry. Then he fell short, but he wouldn’t lose again in Indianapolis.
Caitlin Clark needs to withdraw in hot confrontation with WNBA Ref.
“I called Steph and showed the cup,” Ionescu said.
Indiana FEVER star Lexie Hull, a filling for her teammate Caitlin Clark, who wounded her right groin on Tuesday night, received 20 points to finish the fourth. Clark pulled the crowd from the edge before Hull’s order.
Meanwhile, Ionescu’s Liberty team -mate Natasha Cloud won the skill competition.
The cloud had the fastest time in the first round of the obstacle course that combines the passage, driving and shooting. Seattle had to overcome the 37.5 second sign in the finals of Erica Wheeler. Cloud won the windmill, although three shots on the defensive defender were missing from the corner. 1.1 faster than Wheler – 36.4 seconds could pass the obstacle track.
Cloud received $ 55,000 from Aflac as part of the partnership with Wnbapa. It also receives $ 2,575 from the victory league, which is part of the collective bargaining agreement. IONESCU won $ 60,000 because he won from Aflac and $ 2,575 from the league.
This was the first All-Star weekend in Cloud’s 11-year career. He was never invited to compete in the Skill Competition or to play in All-Star.
