Woman, 43, is arrested for murder as 18-day-old baby girl falls from height from residential property

A woman was arrested for murder after an 18-day-old girl fell from a house.
Police responded to a home on Horseferry Road in Westminster, London, following reports that a baby had fallen from a height.
The baby, who was only 18 days old, was taken to hospital and unfortunately was pronounced dead.
A 43-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. He was detained by the police and remained there.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the Met’s investigation, said: ‘Our thoughts are with the baby’s family today.
‘The death of a baby is always an extremely tragic event and officers are conducting an urgent investigation into this situation.
‘At this stage we believe the incident occurred in a domestic context, but we would urge anyone with information to come forward.’
Police appealed for any witnesses to call 101 quoting reference 1596/14MAR.

A police cordon covered most of Great Peter Street, just off Horseferry Road, on Saturday evening.
A police officer wearing a blue forensic suit was seen in a gray van parked halfway down the road, which was closed to traffic.
Passersby were directed around the taped cordon.
Two coroners were seen working in a third-floor apartment at Peabody Mansion.
