Woman and child injured after ceiling collapses on diners at Toby Carvery

After a ceiling collapsed in a Toby Carrery in Gloucester, two people were injured and taken to hospital.

On Sunday evening, a young girl and a woman reportedly helped by other guests after falling at the restaurant in Brockworth.

Diner Joey Pass, who spoke to the BBC, said he stood with his children when he heard a “big accident” from the inside.

“I could see a lot of dust, and I heard a child screaming, so I ran to see if everyone was good,” he said.

South West Ambulance Service, two patients who did not continue major injuries to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, he said.

In a video sent to social media, a large piece of gypsum can be seen on the ground, while light fittings hang from ceilings, tables and chairs with debris and dust.

“First aid was given by a crazy woman who had dinner there, Mr Mr. Pass said.

“I was worried and worried – What if this were my children or my wife?

“My daughter continues to ask the little girl with the roof.”

Toby Carivery spokesman: “We can verify that a small part of our Brockworth restaurant is affected by the damage given to the ceiling.

“As a precaution, we immediately evacuated the restaurant and called for the support of the emergency services to evaluate the building and the guests who had eaten nearby.”

The restaurant chain apologized for the incident and said that the building was confirmed to be safe and that the maintenance contractors would perform repair.

“Although we are grateful for the emergency services that the incident does not harm any guests, we apologize to all guests and our care team will directly contact them in the coming days.”
