Woman arrested on suspicion of murder after death of two children in Stafford | UK news

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the deaths of two children in Stafford, Staffordshire police said.

Police were called to a house in the town by the West Midlands ambulance service at around 7.30am on Sunday.

Police stated that 2 children died at the scene.

Relatives have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Police added that a 43-year-old woman from the Stafford area was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Police have not yet confirmed the ages of the children.

Detective Constable Kirsty Oldfield said: “We are working hard to better understand the events that led to the tragic deaths of these two children.

“We would ask people not to speculate at this stage as it is distressing for family and friends and could hinder our investigations.

“We understand this incident may cause concern in the local community. We do not believe there is a wider threat to the public at this time.”
