Woman charged with murder over fire that killed mother, boys

A woman has been charged with murder over a fire at a Gladstone house that killed two boys and a woman.

The property on Whiting Street in the suburb of Toolooa went up in flames at around 6am on October 15.

Neighbors said they heard two explosions followed by a woman screaming for help.

The bodies of 36-year-old Jordana Johnson, her 12-year-old son Jordan Norris, and her friend 13-year-old Chazz Mather were later removed by emergency crews.

Police confirmed on Friday morning they had charged the 37-year-old Toolooa woman with three counts of murder and two counts of arson.

He was expected to face a bedside hearing today.

After the fire, another person known to the family spoke to the police.

This person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The house is owned by the Ministry of Housing and a ministry spokesman said they would work with inspectors to determine the cause.
