Culture change urged as issues threaten Liberal women

The liberal party was warned that efforts to strengthen the representation of women could be wasted without cultural revision.
Since a striking loss of election has been given, measures have been presented as a way to modernize the party, thanks to female voters who have partially abandoned the coalition.
However, the opposition front bank Melissa McIntosh said that these approaches should accompany a wider cultural change.
ABC’nin on Sunday, “we block,” he said.
“Until the culture was discussed, we could have all the quotas in the world, but women will have a doner gate.”
He showed that the two men have been trying to challenge him for pre -selection in the marginal seat he had made as an example of systemic problems within the liberal party since 2019.
“This means that a woman’s marginal seat holder can lose her seat because of the civil war,” he said.
“This is a cultural issue that is allowed to happen.”
Ms. McIntosh suggested that a professional to conduct a cultural examination to the Liberal Party and said that “very important to rely on instincts or people’s ideology” and said that the future of the party depends on it.
After the defeat of May, only one -third of the liberal deputies was a woman compared to more than half of the workers’ deputies.
Although almost all of them agree that the coalition needs more women, disputes on how to obtain improvements continue.
The opposition leader Sussan Ley said he was open to looking at the quotas, while the coalition’s defense spokesman Angus Taylor opposed the measure and claimed that he would “destroy democratic processes”.
Ms. McIntosh remained open to this idea, but the party should first look at gender balance during the pre -election process.
“When we have low numbers in the House of Representatives, if people don’t like it, we shouldn’t say ‘no’ to any mechanism.” He said.
