Excited England fans pack out pubs across the country as Three Lions’ World Cup quarter-final against Norway kicks off in Miami

England fans packed pubs across the country for the Three Lions World Cup quarter-final match against Norway.

The match kicks off at 5pm in Miami (10pm UK time) and Thomas Tuchel’s men will be looking to secure their place in the last four.

Thousands of fans travel to the US to watch England play, while millions more watch screenings of the match in fan areas, pubs or living rooms.

Bars were allowed to stay open until 2 a.m. or 30 minutes after the final whistle; 42 million pints are expected to drop this evening.

At least 1,700 England fans packed the fan area at Newcastle and drank 4,000 pints before kick-off.

WeAreFanZones manager Briony Young (32) said: ‘All matches in England are always busy but today they sold out in record time.

‘Even though the weather is a little rainy and overcast, a little rain will not keep us Geordies busy.

‘There was a real party atmosphere in the city all day. ‘Everyone is confident we can get the job done and get to the semi-finals.’

Crowds were pumped before the match as a DJ played a UK playlist including World In Motion, Three Lions (On A Shirt) and Fat Les’ hit Vindaloo.

A rendition of Wonderwall was also played in the fan zone before kick-off.

“Please don’t take me home, I just don’t want to go to work,” chanted fans worried about a hangover on Monday.

‘I want to stay here and drink all the beer.’

Sunderland fan Jamie Rothwell took girlfriend Danielle, 37, on a ‘romantic’ night out to watch the Three Lions.

The 40-year-old dealer said: ‘Is there anything more romantic than Harry Kane putting England through to the semi-finals of the World Cup?

‘I think it’s the perfect date night.’

Second-year sports student James Mason, 19, said: ‘I think we will win 3-1 with Bellingham and Kane scoring. I think it is inevitable that Haaland will score.

‘I put a tenner on it, which will bring you £290. In such a situation we will be out until Monday.’

His friend George Dean, 19, added: ‘We’ll be out all night drinking all the beers because he’s coming home.’

‘I hope Dan Burn carries it in his back pocket.’

Tonight is expected to be the busiest night for pubs since England’s 2018 World Cup semi-final.

17 million viewers are expected on ITV and five million on ITVX; This is the highest ratings since a total of 24.2 million people watched the Euro 2024 final.

Enthusiastic football fans also packed Wembley’s Boxpark for the match

Wearing hats with the St George flag on their heads, the crowd chanted loud football slogans and songs as they prepared for the match.

Mark Bowring, 52, traveled from Buckinghamshire to north-west London with his two sons to watch the match on the big screen.

The owner of the business, who arrived at 18.30, said that he watched the last 4 matches because of Boxpark’s ‘atmosphere’.

He said: ‘If you can’t go to the match, it must be the best place to watch it.’

Excitement is also building outside the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, where England fans have gathered.

Ryan Dougan says he believes the Three Lions have a chance of going all the way at the World Cup.

Commenting on how optimistic he was about the Three Lions in the tournament, he said: ‘I’m bullish.

‘France aside, I don’t think anyone looks much better than us.

‘If we get France in the final, we can get along with them, but I think we can beat anyone.

‘One game at a time, let’s go.’

Another England fan said the Three Lions had a better chance against Norway than Brazil reaching the quarter-finals.

Max Gill, 27, from London, said: ‘I think they (Norway) will probably sit deep.

‘To be honest, I don’t like us against Brazil; They come out and attack.

“So I’m still relatively confident, but I’m a little wary of Haaland’s counter-attack.

‘So maybe 1-0 and then sit back.’
