Woman falls asleep while driving, crashes in Darke County, sheriff’s office says

An 18-year-old woman was injured in a crash after falling asleep at the wheel, according to a Darke County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

The single-car accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 118 and Houk Road.

A preliminary investigation revealed that an 18-year-old female was traveling southbound on SR-118 when she fell asleep.

The spokesman said that the car rolled over from the left side of the road and hit a mailbox and a lamppost.

The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
