Woman ‘raped’ in broad daylight at country park as cops launch appeal | UK | News
Police have issued an emergency appeal after a woman was allegedly raped in broad daylight in a popular UK park. West Midlands police are now appealing for more information about the incident at Sandwell Valley Country Park.
The woman was found injured in the Priory Woods area of the park at around 10.15 on Monday, June 29. After investigation, police believe that the woman was raped. He was taken to hospital for assessment and later discharged and is currently being supported by specially trained officers. Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area between 8am and 11am and may have information about what happened.
Detective Inspector Phil Griffiths, of the Public Projection Unit, said: “For the last three weeks officers have been examining CCTV footage around Sandwell Valley Country Park, examining forensic evidence and speaking to anyone who may have vital information about what happened.
“Parish officers have been patrolling the area since the incident and specialist officers will revisit the park today to speak to anyone with information.
“We know the park will be full of people enjoying the sun on Monday morning. If you see anything suspicious, we need to hear from you.”
