Woman ‘sexually assaulted’ in sea at Bournemouth beach as ‘man swam up to family group’ | UK | News
A woman was allegedly sexually assaulted while in the water in a popular seaside town. Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward following a reported sexual assault in Bournemouth.
The incident allegedly occurred in the water at Bournemouth beach, to the left of the pier, at around 18:00 on Sunday, July 12. Dorset Police said a man allegedly “swam towards a family group and touched the bottom of a woman in her 40s through her clothing”. Describing the suspect, police added: “The man is described as being of Indian descent, approximately 6 feet tall, with black hair and a small stubble. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.”
Police attended and arrested a 35-year-old London man on suspicion of sexual assault and were released on conditional bail, police said today.
Constable Matthew McGuinness, of Dorset Police, said: “We believe there are independent witnesses who saw the incident and I would ask them to please contact us as this may assist our investigation.”
