Women’s Matchplay darts 2026 results: Beau Greaves beats Fallon Sherrock to claim third title
Beau Greaves won the Women’s World Match for the third time after making a thrilling decision in the final match to beat Fallon Sherrock.
The top seed was not at his best but held his nerve as Sherrock pushed him all the way to a 6-5 win at Blackpool Winter Gardens.
It was the third Matchplay title for Greaves in four years but the 22-year-old, who had a 5-3 lead, was under pressure as Sherrock hit 180 in the decider.
But the 22-year-old responded with a maximum of his own and followed it up with a 145 set-up to make 56 to secure the win.
“I’m not one to celebrate but after winning I was relieved,” Greaves told Sky Sports.
“It was a relief to hit the last dart. I’m very happy to win.
“I was nervous. That kind of pressure is a privilege; I’m doing well and playing well. I didn’t think I was playing my best game, but just to win and get through that is huge. It’s a terrific night.”
Doncaster’s Greaves came in as clear favourites, but made it through the quarter-finals only to find themselves in trouble in the semi-finals.
Gemma Hayter took her to another decider but Greaves prevailed against the darts in style to progress to the final with 104 points.
By contrast, Sherrock dropped just one leg en route to the cup match, beating defending champion Lisa Ashton in the semi-finals to win 5-1.
But she failed to reach the final for the third year in a row and failed to clinch the Women’s Matchplay title for the first time since the inaugural tournament in 2022.
But for three-time women’s world champion Greaves, it is another major victory after a year to remember.
In April, she defeated Michael Smith to become the first woman to win a title in the PDC rankings.
She also became the first woman to finish with a nine-dart finish in the PDC ProTour with her victory over Mensur Suljovic in February.
“I knew beforehand that playing with the women was a bit different for me now – I’m just trying to concentrate on the men’s game – but when I came back and played in this tournament I knew it was and would be difficult,” Greaves added.
“I didn’t think I could handle it, but after last year’s disappointment, I’m really happy to get the win. This relief is very good for my game going forward.”
