Women’s quota, delimitation bills will be passed in Monsoon Session: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale

He said that in the previous Parliament session, the Constitution amendment bills were rejected by the Congress, Samajwadi Party and TMC.

Now the NDA has a clear majority, he told reporters here on Wednesday, adding that the Women’s Reservation Bill will be introduced in the next session and women will get reservation in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
“Limitation is done every 30-35 years. Limitation is also necessary,” he said.
The senior politician from Maharashtra, who heads the BJP ally Republican Party of India (Athawale), said the bills are expected to be passed after some TMC and Shiv Sena (UBT) members, who support the NDA and DMK, parted ways with the Congress.

He called on the Congress and other parties to extend their support for the passage of the bills.
On April 17, during the long session of parliament, the Constitution amendment bill, which provided for the implementation of reservations for women in legislative assemblies by 2029 and increasing the number of seats in the Lok Sabha, was rejected in the Lower House, with 298 members voting in support of the bill and 230 MPs voting against it.
The bill required 352 votes for a two-thirds majority out of 528 members voting.
