World Cup 2026: England have no new injury problems for Argentina semi-final

Jordan Henderson and Jarell Quansah will be the only players England will be unable to play in the World Cup semi-final against Argentina.

Henderson is still recovering from surgery on his arm, which was broken while celebrating the last 16 win against Mexico, while defender Quansah remains suspended after receiving a red card in the same match.

Head coach Thomas Tuchel is left with options when completing his starting XI.

The England boss is yet to start from the same back-to-back position in four successive World Cup games but has looked to retain the same defensive line that started in the quarter-final against Norway.

In the match where Ezri Konsa, John Stones, Marc Guehi and Nico O’Reilly started, it seems that Tuchel was impressed by the performance of the four in the 2-1 victory.

Declan Rice’s preparations for the Norway game were severely disrupted by illness; but BBC Sport reported on Monday that there was optimism his condition had improved enough for him to take his place in the squad on Wednesday.

Rice is expected to fully practice on Tuesday and start in Atlanta.
