Is Countdown On? Trump’s Military Strike Signals Put Iran And The World On The Edge

While Washington reacted harshly to Tehran’s crackdown on protesters, US President Donald Trump signaled the possibility of military action against Iran.

In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump directly addressed Iranian protesters, urging them to continue their demonstration and claiming that “help is coming.” He called on protesters to take control of institutions and announced the cancellation of all talks with Iran. Trump also warned that those responsible for killing protesters “will pay a heavy price”; this was widely seen as a strong indicator of potential action against Iran. Over the past 15 days, Trump has repeatedly warned Iran, stating early on that any harsh treatment of protesters would lead to retaliation. As Iranian officials intensified their reactions, global attention turned to Trump’s next move.

Tonight is considered a very important decision point regarding Iran in the USA. Trump held a high-level meeting with senior officials to discuss next steps. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kane are expected to attend the meeting.

If the discussion focuses on possible action plans against Iran, it may signal that the administration may prepare concrete measures in response to the Iranian government’s actions.

Even before this meeting, some moves hinted at a potential escalation. The US is reportedly talking about the possibility of air strikes once again.

One of the strongest signals came from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest and most important US military base in the Middle East. In recent days, the activities of US warplanes at the base have increased. Located just 200 to 300 kilometers from the Iranian border and home to more than 10,000 US troops, this increased movement is seen as a direct warning to Tehran.

At the same time, the United States advised its citizens in Iran to leave the country immediately. Although fewer than 100 U.S. citizens are thought to be in Iran due to decades of tense relations, many dual citizens remain in Iran. US alerts warned that these people may be at risk.

Other countries are also taking precautions. While France withdrew all but essential personnel from its embassy in Tehran, Australia and Sweden called on their citizens to return home. Israel has begun its own preparations, with the Israeli Ministry of Health issuing emergency preparedness guidelines for hospitals, amid fears that Iran could retaliate against Israel if the United States launches an attack. Many Middle Eastern countries have activated emergency measures, including Bahrain, which is testing warning sirens as part of its national emergency plan. Oman, Qatar and the UAE also held emergency meetings.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is said to have met with Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Oman is mediating. However, the news shows that Iran is not ready to back down from its stance.
