World’s first 250-mile Wetherspoon pub crawl to take place in UK – and tickets for the ‘Spoons Pilgrimage’ are selling out fast

A bus company has launched the UK’s first Wetherspoon pub crawl, offering fans the perfect trip for discounted beers.

Lloyds Coaches will run a 250-mile ‘Spoon Journey’ on 27 June, touring six JD Wetherspoon pubs in North Wales and just over the border for just £20 per person.

The £20 ticket does not include drinks served in each bar, but the bus company promises ‘an epic day of good food, cheap beers and great company’.

Not only does the trip give punters the opportunity to visit multiple Wetherspoons locations, but it also offers the chance to explore the beauty of North Wales with stops at historical and cultural landmarks across the region.

One to postLloyds said: ‘We’re hitting some of the most iconic pubs in North Wales and the border.

‘Whether you’re in for affordable beers, legendary breakfasts or just to check out the carpet patterns, this trip is for you!’

The 12-hour marathon starts early at 9.15am in Dolgellau. After approximately 100 miles stopping at various pick-up points in Tywyn, Aberdyfi and Pennal, we arrive at The Wilfred Owen in Oswestry at 12pm, where the pub crawl will begin.

Second stop at The Castle Hotel in Ruthin offers a watering hole in a well-preserved Georgian building dating from 1730, just a stone’s throw from Snowdonia National Park.

Passengers continue on a 45-minute journey to a third stop at The Picture House in Colwyn Bay, before moving on to the Palladium in nearby Llandudno for their fourth tour.

Arguably the most impressive among the bars on the route, II. The grade-listed Palladium is known as one of the UK’s finest Wetherspoon venues, a converted 1920s grand theater and cinema with opulent interiors.

The merry revelers will make their way to Tafarn y Porth in Caernarfon and set off 45 minutes later for the final stop at Pen Cob in Pwllheli at 7.30pm.

After the last lap is over the coach will return to the starting point in Dolgellau.

With travel time between stops ranging from 20 minutes to more than an hour, drinkers must polish off their beers within a strict 45-minute limit.

Lloyds warned ticket holders: ‘At the end of the tour, only passengers picked up from the stops between Dolgellau and Cemmaes Road will be taken home.

‘If you are going to board somewhere else, it is your responsibility to return home.’

Lloyds originally had only one coach for the tour, but due to popular demand a second coach has now been added.

Those wishing to book seats for the second coach must contact Lloyds Coaches directly, but the company announced earlier this morning that only two seats were left.

This comes after Wetherspoon announced it would introduce ‘Guinness knockoff’ Murphy’s Irish Stout across all its UK branches.

The company launched the drink over a six-week period, starting earlier this week; All bars will offer this drink until the end of June.

The average price of a pint will be £2.99.

But fear not, true Black Stuff fans, because Guinness will also be available in all Wetherspoons.

Tim Martin, founder and chairman of Wetherspoon, said: ‘We always aim to offer our customers the best possible drinks choice.

‘I’m sure they’ll welcome the arrival of Murphy’s Irish Stout to pubs.’
