WrestleMania 42: Becky Lynch wins Women’s Intercontinental Championship for record third time

LAS VEGAS – Becky Lynch entered an atmosphere that WWE female superstars have never achieved before by defeating AJ Lee to win the Women’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42 on Saturday night.
Lynch became the first person to hold the Women’s Intercontinental Championship three times after pinning Lee. She first won the championship in June 2025 against Lyra Valkyria, then again in November against Maxxine Dupri.

He dropped the belt to Lee in the Elimination Chamber, sparking a months-long feud with him.
Lee offered Lynch a title shot in the weeks before WrestleMania 42. But it seems Lee went along with Lynch’s plans. Despite arguing with referee Jessica Carr for much of the match, Lynch was able to gracefully unsnap a rope buckle and use it to her advantage.
Lynch hit Lee with a Manhandle Slam and pinned him for the win.

This is the second year in a row that Lynch will leave Las Vegas as champion. She returned to WWE at WrestleMania 41 to team with Valkyria to win the women’s championship. She will now leave Allegiant Stadium as the women’s intercontinental champion.
Lynch is currently a seven-time women’s champion, three-time women’s intercontinental champion and two-time tag team champion.

Lee’s reign as champion ended before it really began. WrestleMania 42 featured the event for the first time in 11 years. It’s unclear where Lee goes from here.
