WSL January transfers: Who might be on the move?

Some of the biggest deals completed this month could be the contract renewals of some big-name players.
England’s 26-year-old Georgia Stanway attracted a lot of attention; Arsenal were among those in talks with the midfielder. His contract with Bayern Munich expires in the summer and although there is an extension offer, he could sign a pre-contract in January to join another club in the summer.
Another English midfielder, Ella Toone’s contract at Manchester United expires in July. He could begin talks with other clubs outside the WSL this month.
Manchester City’s 28-year-old top scorer Khadija Shaw held positive talks about a contract extension, which is a big priority for the club.
European champions Arsenal want to keep hold of US international Emily Fox and she has signed a deal that expires this summer, along with Katie McCabe, Kim Little and Stina Blackstenius.
Chelsea will also hold talks with senior players Sam Kerr, Millie Bright and Lucy Bronze, who only have six months left on their contracts.
Aston Villa captain Rachel Daly’s contract expires in the summer, but will the club offer the 34-year-old a new deal?
Elsewhere, it was reported on January 5 that 27-year-old Everton forward Kelly Gago had attracted interest from Paris St-Germain but with a valuation of £500,000, can the Toffees keep him?
All eyes will be on US forward Trinity Rodman, who could leave the Washington Spirit depending on the outcome of salary negotiations with the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
Chelsea are among those monitoring Rodman’s situation, while Japanese midfielder Maika Hamano could leave the Blues and join Tottenham on loan. US forward Catarina Macario has also attracted interest from the NWSL, while German midfielder Sjoeke Nusken could seek more playing time elsewhere.
Reports suggest West Ham may have to fend off interest in England defender Anouk Denton, while Amber Tysiak has previously attracted suitors in the summer.
