Wyndham Clark reflected on his second US Open win with an emotional message filled with thought and appreciation.

Clark became the 24th player to win at least two U.S. Opens in his career after going wire-to-wire at Shinnecock Hills to beat fellow American Sam Burns by one shot. The 32-year-old captured his first US Open title at Los Angeles Country Club in 2023; which was a one-shot victory with runner-up Rory McIlroy having the best of it.

“I’m not sure I’ve found the words yet. To be honest, last year wasn’t filled with a lot of excitement. There were more questions than answers, more disappointments than celebrations, and there were a lot of moments that tested my belief in myself,” Clark said. Note about X started.

WYNDHAM CLARK DOES NOT NEED TO BE LOVED BUT SHOULD BE RESPECTED AFTER HAVING A CLEAR VICTORY AT SHINNECOCK

“This game can be incredibly humbling. It doesn’t owe you anything, and sometimes all you can do is keep showing up and trusting that the work will pay off in the end. That’s why this week is so meaningful. To the fans, thank you for making this championship what it is. New York fans are passionate, honest and demanding. Whether you went out of your way for me or not, you created an atmosphere I will never forget and pushed us all to do our best.

“Thank you to the USGA, Shinnecock Hills members, volunteers, and everyone behind the scenes who made this week so special. This place is everything the U.S. Open should be, and I’m incredibly honored to have my name associated with it forever.

“To my team, my family, my friends and my sponsors, thank you for standing in my corner during the tough times. Thank you for believing in me on the days when it wasn’t easy to believe. This trophy is even more meaningful because of the path I took to get here. Setbacks, doubts and difficult days make this moment that much sweeter. I will never forget this week, this place and what it feels like to stand here as a two-time US Open Champion. I am forever grateful.”

Clark was far from a fan favorite heading into Sunday’s Shinnecock final round. The majority of fans at the Long Island, New York, property appeared to be pulling against the Colorado native, with countless shouts and small roars for his golf ball to find shelter after each of his five bogeys in the final round.

Clark made a pair of very public mistakes during the 2025 PGA Tour season. He launched his driver through an advertising sign on the back of a tee during the final round of the 2025 PGA Championship. A month later, after missing the cut at Oakmont at the 2025 US Open, he smashed two lockers inside the clubhouse and was banned by the historic club in the following days.
