Wyndham Clark’s US Open victory tour included revealing that an ex-girlfriend of his cheated with an NFL star

While taking a break from the media victory lap following his U.S. Open win last weekend, Wyndham Clark was asked about an old tweet about a starting quarterback in the NFL.

The tweet in question is from December 2016, when the quarterback was a college football star at Oklahoma. Clark played golf at Oklahoma State that year before transferring to Oregon.

“I’m trying to decide whether to tell the story or not. OK, never mind, I don’t care. People hate me anyway… My girlfriend at the time cheated on me with Baker Mayfield,” Clark said.

“But I can say… I’m actually a Baker fan now, I think he’s a homie. Your first reaction is ‘Fuck that guy.’ But seriously, damn… he cheated on me.”

This is all behind Clark now. He still doesn’t hold a grudge against Baker. He hopes that after finally revealing the story behind the tweet, the two athletes can become brothers and go golfing.

“This is personal. I hope this can be a moment of brotherhood for us to say, ‘Oh, bro, I didn’t know. It’s my fault. He never told me,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s all good, we’re friends, let’s play golf.’ I hope that’s where that comes from.”
