Xi Jinping welcomes US president but thorny issues remain

President Xi has been keen to portray himself as a stable global leader as opposed to a volatile US president. Given the size of China’s economy, a number of world leaders, including U.S. allies such as Canada, Britain and Germany, have emerged eager to strike a deal with Beijing.
