Youths in custody after detention centre fire

After three young, fire and a problematic youth detention center, the police are allegedly causing “major” damage.
Police and Emergency Services, three armed young people, Sunday afternoon Launceston about 50 km west of Ashley Youth Detention Center opened fire on a part of the fire.
Tasmania police said that the trio was found in the outer region before the police were detained.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
Firefighters remained at the scene to extinguish the fire, but the police said that the damage to a center was wide.
Tasmania institutionalized child sexual abuse investigation, which made its final report in 2023, suggested that the Ashley Youth Detention Center be closed as soon as possible.
The center said that a lively child creates a risk of sexual abuse.
However, when creating a backup, the closing date of the facility was pushed again and again and now set at the beginning of 2028.
