Yuva Morcha protest march to Kerala CM’s official residence over PSC exam ‘anomalies’ turns violent

Scenes of violence were witnessed at the Devaswom Board junction in the state capital after the protest march organized by the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), to Cliff House, the official residence of the Chief Minister of Kerala, on Friday, July 24, 2026.

BJYM marched to the official residence of Chief Minister VD Satheesan, accusing him of not taking concrete steps on alleged anomalies in some investigations conducted by the State Public Service Commission (PSC). The Yuva Morcha alleged double standards in the Prime Minister’s participation in the protest led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in Delhi, demanding action against leaks of NEET papers.

When the march was stopped at the Devaswom Board junction, protesters tried to break through the barricades, prompting the police to use water cannons to push them back. Despite police repeatedly firing water cannons, the protesters refused to disperse.

Later, leaders including BB Gopakumar MLA and BJP State general secretary S. Suresh addressed the protesters.

The protest is seen as part of the BJP’s attempts in various states to counter the student agitation led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in Delhi, which is supported by Opposition parties, including the Congress.

Two days ago, the BJP had organized a similar protest march to the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram.
