Zayn Malik Urges Fans to Support UNICEF Relief Efforts in Venezuela

Washington: Singer Zayn Malik called on his followers to support humanitarian efforts in Venezuela after two powerful earthquakes hit the country on June 24, causing widespread destruction and a growing humanitarian crisis. Earthquakes devastated communities in La Guaira province; Emergency teams continue search and rescue operations amid collapsed buildings and damaged infrastructure. Zayn emphasized the extent of the disaster and called for urgent public support for ongoing relief operations. Underlining the urgent needs of the affected families, the singer called on her listeners to contribute to UNICEF’s response fund.

Malik encouraged donations to help deliver essential aid to children and families affected by the disaster, saying on his Instagram account, “The needs are so great and every little bit of help can really make a difference.”

According to UNICEF, relief teams are currently working on the ground to provide emergency assistance, including medical supplies, clean water and sanitation kits, specialized child protection services, psychosocial support for traumatized children, and the creation of safe learning spaces for displaced students. The Indian Embassy in Venezuela announced that India has deployed a 41-man rescue team, an Indian Army Field Hospital, two Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster aircraft, 30 tonnes of relief supplies, six tonnes of medicines and medical equipment and two BHISHM Cube portable hospitals to support rescue and medical operations.

In a statement shared on X, the embassy said, “Operation #Amistad India intensified disaster relief efforts in Venezuela with a healing touch to those affected by the earthquake.” he said. The delegation also affirmed India’s determination to stand with Venezuela during the crisis under the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Meanwhile, the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs also welcomed India’s assistance and reported that a comprehensive field hospital was established in Caracas for the treatment of earthquake victims. According to CNN’s report based on National Assembly Speaker Jorge Rodriguez, the death toll rose to 1,719, and 22,619 people were affected, including 5,034 injured. Authorities reported that 855 buildings were damaged, 189 of which were completely destroyed, while 609 aftershocks have been recorded since the June 24 earthquake.
