Ilinca, 34, of Stafford Road, Great Yarmouth, was wearing a cream hoodie and clasped his hands in front of him on the pitch’s dock.

At one point she appeared tearful and said “please.”

The defendant, who had short-cut black hair and a beard, was not asked to defend himself against the charges.

He was arrested and sent to prison without requesting bail.

Ilinca, assisted by an interpreter via video link, is expected to appear before Norwich Crown Court on July 6.

Norfolk Police previously said Ilinca was stopped at the port of Dover when re-entering the UK and subsequently charged.

Police said another man in his 30s, who was arrested on suspicion of rape in connection with the same incident in Northamptonshire on May 17, will be released on bail until August 10 while investigations continue.
