20k cars affected after airbag defect discovered

A potential airbag fault has led to a recall of nearly 21,000 Land Rovers across Australia.

It was discovered that an airbag corrosion issue affecting the driver’s side clock spring increased resistance in the airbag circuit.

This means the airbag may not deploy in the event of a crash, “increasing the risk of injury or death,” a product recall notice states.

Among the thousands of vehicles affected are Defender, Discovery and Land Rover models produced between 2019 and 2026.

Owners of an affected model will be contacted in writing by Jaguar Land Rover and asked to contact their nearest authorized dealer to have work carried out free of charge.
