Ohio dentist slayings suspect indicted on more aggravated murder, burglary charges

A Franklin County grand jury indicted Michael McKee on multiple counts of aggravated murder and other felonies in connection with the shooting deaths of an Ohio dentist and his wife, according to court records.

McKee was charged Friday with four counts of aggravated murder, each with a firearm specification, according to an indictment filed in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

Three of the aggravated murder charges include specifications alleging that an automatic firearm or silencer was used or displayed, while the fourth alleges that a firearm was displayed or brandished. McKee is also charged with one count of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, and one count of aggravated robbery, an unclassified crime.

Authorities allege that McKee shot and killed his ex-wife, 39-year-old Monique Tepe, and her husband, Spencer Tepe, at their home in Columbus’ Weinland Park neighborhood around 10 a.m. on Dec. 30. McKee was arrested on January 10 and later transported to the Franklin County Jail.

Police described the killings as a targeted, domestic violence-related attack but said they did not discuss a motive for the attack or whether there was communication between the suspect and the victims before the shooting.

We know it’s her ex-husband, so it’s related to domestic violence. And as the case progresses, we will likely be able to get more answers as accusations are revealed. But we don’t currently have an answer as to why.,” Police Chief Elaine Bryant told Fox News Digital.

McKee waived extradition during an Illinois court hearing on January 12, where he was held at the Winnebago County Jail in Rockford, Illinois, where authorities found him following the murders.

Charging documents say investigators identified McKee by connecting him to a vehicle that arrived in the Tepes neighborhood shortly before the shootings and left shortly thereafter. Police later found the vehicle in Rockford and determined it belonged to McKee, according to court records.

Investigators found several firearms in McKee’s home, one of which is believed to have been used in the murder, Bryant said. He said there was a preliminary link through the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network connecting one of the recovered weapons to the shootings.

A preliminary investigation report also revealed that three 9mm shell casings were found at the scene and were recorded as evidence. When asked if the firearm was legally obtained, Bryant said investigators were still working to determine that information.
