30-Year-Old Man lynched Over Witchcraft Suspicion

Visakhapatnam: A 30-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by villagers on suspicion of practicing witchcraft in Parvathipuram Manyam area on Monday. Police detained 16 people, including women and young people, regarding the murder.

The victim, Tadanga Ramesh of Velagavalasa village under Parvathipuram mandal, was reportedly attacked by a group of villagers who dragged him from his house and attacked him. Police said the accused then took her body to the outskirts of the village and tried to burn it to destroy evidence.

Following a complaint by the victim’s brother T. Sridhar, Parvathipuram Rural police recovered the partially burnt body and sent it for autopsy. Ramesh is survived by his wife and two children.

Three special police teams were formed to track down the accused, resulting in the arrest of 16 suspects. Further investigation was ongoing.
