60-day prohibitory order in Kolkata’s central business district from May 3

According to an official order, after receiving information regarding possible violent demonstrations, the Kolkata Police on Friday, May 1, 2026, decided to impose prohibitory orders in parts of the city’s central business district for 60 days from May 3.

The order was given before Vote counting in the May 4 Parliament elections.
