7 Indian workers killed, 5 critically injured in road accident in Dubai

At least seven Indian workers died when a minibus collided with a truck stopped in the middle of the road in Dubai on Monday, June 8, 2026, officials said.
“The accident resulted in seven deaths and nine injuries, five serious and four moderate. All the injured were transported to hospital for treatment,” said Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic road accident in Dubai that claimed the lives of many Indian workers,” the Indian Consulate in Dubai said in a post on X. he said. The mission said it was working closely with local authorities to provide all possible assistance and support.
Mr Juma Salem said preliminary investigations showed that the truck suddenly stopped in the middle of Emirates Road due to a technical fault.
“The bus driver, who allegedly did not pay attention and did not maintain a safe distance, then hit the truck from behind,” the statement said.
Officials from the Indian delegation visited the hospital and met with the injured Indians. The delegation said, “Our sincere condolences and prayers are with the grieving families during this difficult time.”
Brigadier General Juma Salem said that experts from the Traffic Accident Investigation Department were sent to the scene to investigate and collect conclusive evidence to determine the exact causes of the accident.
“Traffic patrols regulated traffic flow, ensured the safety of the area and facilitated access for rescue vehicles. Work crews also removed the damaged truck and bus to ensure normal traffic flow,” he said.
