BHP set to appoint first female CEO: report

Financial Times will appoint Geraldine Slatty, the current president of Australia as the first female general manager of Mike Henry, the current CEO of BHP.

The appointment of the world’s largest mining company will be the first female leader in the 140 -year history of the company.

In the report, Henry is expected to resign until the middle of 2026 five years later.

However, the BHP said that the Board did not “hurry” to make a change.

The company immediately did not respond to Reuters’ request for comments.

Slatty has been in BHP for thirty years and previously directed the company’s US oil business.

Peer Rio Tinto also appointed Inseri Simon Trott as his new CEO in mid -July. Trott previously chaired the company’s most profitable iron ore unit.
