The Ernakulam Regional Consumer Dispute Correction Commission has directed a multiplex company to exhibit notification boards in appropriate places in the facilities that inform customers about the availability of free drinking water.
The panel released the order that rejected a complaint against the ban on bringing food and beverages from outside in the PVR cinemas in Lulu Mall.
The complaint was opened on September 16, 2022 by Kozhikode, Sreekanth Indukkapkal from Kuruvattur, after making a ticket reservation for a film on a screen in Multiplex on 21 April 2022.
He claimed that PVR cinemas forced consumers to buy food and beverages only from their sales, which are claimed to be excessive prices, and forced them to leave a practical alternative or competitive choice by applying ban on external consumables while limiting users in theater facilities.
A regular salted popcorn (90 g) and a spicy chicken burger (255 g) containing in -house meters (₹ 250 and ₹ 200, respectively), including drinks purchased.
PVR claimed that it was legally working in its reply and provided free Ro (Reverse Ozmoz) filtered drinking water on the multiplex. He said that users were not forced to buy food or drinks and avoid buying or visiting another cinema.
It is a standard and reasonable entry condition in compatible with the rules in the prohibition, safety, safety, hygiene and operational concerns on the external dinner (limited return time, airport level scanning and risks such as alcohol, controversial or inflammation).
The Commission, which consists of DB binu, president and members of the V. Ramachandran and TN Sreevidia, found that there is no reliable material that shows that the services of the opposing parties have fallen below the legal or contract standards.
The panel led the company to comply with its commitments and to ensure the uninterrupted usability of Ro filtered drinking water to all customers during working hours within the facility. The facility will be kept in a clean and hygienic state and the notification boards that stand out will be shown to customers in appropriate places that inform customers in the multiplex facilities that inform customers the availability of free Ro filter drinking water.
