Fatal air strike in Pakistan’s Tirah Valley

Who is Kshitij Tyagi?
In the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), the Indian ambassador Kshitij Tyagi, who has headlines for harsh criticism of Pakistan, is an experienced Indian Foreign Service (IFS) official. Career change from engineering to public service
Before becoming a diplomat, Tyagi was an engineer with an impressive educational history. He graduated from Kharagpur (IIT-KGP), a highly known Indian Technology Institute (IIT-KGP), who has received a master’s degree in the field of mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in the thermal energy and environmental engineering.
After his training, Tyagi was employed as a business analyst for nearly three years from 2007 to 2010. However, career goals were higher than the corporate sector. In an interview in 2014, “I wanted to touch life, to be important beyond institutional metrics,” he said.
Rising from diplomatic ranks
TYYGİ, which originated from this effort, took place in the second attempt of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in the second attempt in 2011 in 148 national rankings. He chose sociology and public administration as optional articles and emphasized his intense interest in governance from an early stage.
TYYGİ’s diplomatic career began in 2014 as the third secretary working on bilateral trade and cultural diplomacy at the Indian Embassy in Portugal, Lisbon. Later, he served as the second secretary in Brasília in 2015 and the first secretary in Cairo in 2018.
Lock role in the UN permanent mission
In January 2024, his professional journey took him to Geneva, where India became the first secretary in the UN permanent mission. A year later, he was promoted to the rank of advisor who made India a global figure to present his firm stand in the UNHCR.
