A Merseyside Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Fire crews were called to respond to a fire at a building under construction on Scotland Road, between the junctions of Chapel Gardens and Penrhyn Street, in Everton, Liverpool, this morning. “Crews were alerted at 6.50am and were at the scene, with four fire engines and an aerial vehicle on scene.
“Crews arrived to find a three-storey mid-terrace building currently under construction with its roof on fire.
“Fire crews are fighting the fire from the outside with three hose reel jets and a main branch hose. The aerial apparatus is being deployed and prepared to fight the fire in the roof area and control the spread of the fire.”
“The buildings on both sides have been cleared and all persons accounted for.
“There is significant traffic congestion on Scotland Road, please avoid this area.”
