Beaumont Lamarre-Condon: Sydney man drops lawsuit over arrest by accused double-murder cop

A man who sought compensation after the dramatic arrest of suspected murderer by police Beaumont Lamarre-Condon has withdrawn his civil lawsuit.

The 37-year-old man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was arrested by Mr Lamarre-Condon in Paddington in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in June 2020.

During the arrest, images of the former police officer firing a stun gun at the man from close range and the police repeatedly ordering him to lie down on the ground went viral.

As he and another officer struggled with the man, Mr. Lamarre-Condon then fired his stun gun at the man while he was on the ground.

The man brought a civil claim against the State of NSW, seeking compensation for the manner in which he was arrested.

However, a District Court media spokesperson confirmed to NewsWire that the matter has been closed and the hearing date scheduled for November has been cancelled.

It is understood NSW Police previously investigated the circumstances of the 2020 arrest and found Mr Lamarre-Condon’s actions were lawful.

This comes just weeks after Mr Lamarre-Condon bizarrely said during his court appearance that he “will not be silenced”.

Mr Lamarre-Condon is alleged to have murdered Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies, 29, and TV presenter Jesse Baird in February 2024.

Police allege Mr Lamarre-Condon shot two men with a NSW Police service weapon when he broke into Mr Baird’s Paddington home on February 19.

He is accused of later hiding the couple’s bodies in surfboard bags before dumping them in a rural field.

Mr Lamarre-Condon confirmed his innocence via audio-visual link from custody in the Sydney Supreme Court earlier this month.

He has been charged with domestic violence-related murder and breaking and entering with intent to commit a criminal offense and has remained in custody since his arrest.

“The truth will prevail and I will not be silenced,” Mr Lamarre-Condon told the court.

The former police officer said he “respectfully wishes to say” on the record that he had previously held discussions with the Director of Public Prosecutions to plead guilty to only one count of manslaughter in relation to Mr Baird in the local court.

“I have taken responsibility from the beginning… and therefore I am entitled to early plea relief,” he told the court.

Mr Lamarre-Condon now joins his third set of lawyers after changing his legal team in July.

He has now spent more than 18 months in detention.

Before becoming a police officer, Mr. Lamarre-Condon ran a celebrity blog and often took selfies with well-known celebrities such as Taylor Swift.

His trial is scheduled to begin on September 21, 2026.
