140 Maoists To Surrender Before Chhattisgarh CM On Friday

Nalgonda: A total of 140 Maoists, including central committee member Rupesh, divisional secretary Ranitha, two DKSZC members and 15 DVC members, are heading to Bhairamgarh to surrender.
Maoists are bringing over 70 weapons to put before Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and home minister Vijay Sharma in Jagdalpur on Friday.
Rupesh, a prominent Maoist leader from Andhra Pradesh operating in Chhattisgarh, played a key role in coordination between various NKRZC divisions and looked after logistics, communication and training in the Maad district. He was seen as a vital link between the central committee and the local regional structure. His surrender is expected to deal a major blow to the outfit’s operational strength in Bastar.
Ranitha, one of the senior female commanders in charge of the Maad division, operates in many Bastar districts.
According to police officials, the Maoists came out of the forests and crossed the Indravati River along the Dantewada-Bijapur border. They are being escorted to Jagdalpur for the official surrender ceremony.
Security forces have imposed tight security measures from Bhairamgarh to Indravati River ghat, restricting the movement of people in the area.
