Rights Panel Issues Notice To HCA

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TSHRC) has issued a notice to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) for violating workers’ rights and not paying salary to suspended administrative director Bijai Durga Rath.
Rath was appointed on June 23, 2021, through a process and his appointment was approved by the apex cricket governing body. Despite the transparent appointment and the order issued by the Telangana high court regarding the payment of his dues, HCA had denied him his salary and legal benefits.
The rights panel issued a notice directing the HCA secretary to submit a comprehensive report by December 10 or take legal action under the Protection of Human Rights Act 1993.
Rath was suspended amid controversy swirling around the cricket establishment, which also led to mass suspensions, including the CEO, in November 2021.
