The media is failing at covering what Trump means for Australia

I’ve been obsessively focused on the prime ministerial meeting with the US president for months. Zero interest in the threat the US currently poses, coupled with a lack of understanding of the government’s strategy for dealing with Donald Trump and an inability to any longer parse the key details of the critical minerals deal, has proven Australia’s mainstream media are not up to the challenge of accurately conveying what Trump means to Australia.
In fact, ordinary Australians who brutally rejected local versions of Trump earlier this year appear to understand the long-ago US president better than the journalists, editors and producers who see it as their job to inform and educate the public about world and national events.
