Singer D4vd arrested for murder of Celeste Rivas, 14, after teen’s dismembered body was found in trunk of his Tesla

Singer D4vd has been arrested for the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Thursday.

‘Los Angeles Police Department Robbery-Homicide Division detectives arrested 21-year-old Los Angeles resident David Burke for the murder of Celeste Rivas. In a statement from the LAPD, it was stated that Burke was being held without bail.

The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Monday.

D4vd’s arrest comes months after Rivas’ remains were found in the front trunk of a Tesla held at a tow truck in Hollywood. Police said the vehicle was registered to D4vd.

D4vd was officially named as a suspect in the February murder, according to unsealed court documents. D4vd was identified as a ‘target’ in Rivas’ death in petitions demanding his parents testify before a Los Angeles County grand jury.

The petition stated, ‘The target may have committed the following crimes…: A Murder’.

The grand jury investigation into D4vd began in mid-November. Jurors were presented with evidence by prosecutors and those involved, including D4vd’s executives and D4vd’s friend Neo Langston, were called to testify.

Rivas’ family said he was last seen in the spring of 2024 when he left his home in Lake Elsinore to watch a movie on D4vd and never returned. He was 13 years old at the time.

Rivas’ remains were discovered last September after a Tesla allegedly owned by D4vd was left on a public street for more than 72 hours, according to the LAPD.

Neighbors said the Tesla was moved several times in the past three months before being abandoned on Bluebird Boulevard in the Hollywood Hills.

It was later seized and taken to Hollywood Tow. Noticing a bad smell coming from the vehicle, the tow truck employees notified the police on September 8, 2025.

Rivas’ decomposing body was found in the Tesla by investigators, who said it had been dismembered.

He was found days after his 15th birthday, but police believe he died much earlier, possibly in the spring of 2025.

The Los Angeles County Coroner said Rivas was wearing black leggings, a tube top, a yellow metal chain bracelet and stud earrings when she was found.

Rivas is believed to be romantically involved with D4vd, based on statements from friends and family.

Rivas’ mother reported missing three different times She said that throughout 2024, her daughter was dating a man named ‘David’ whom she had never met.

After Rivas’ death, the lyrics of D4vd’s songs became the subject of much scrutiny due to their violent nature.

It was also reported that the two shared matching ‘Shhh’ tattoos on their right index fingers.

Friends of D4vd told TMZ that the two are seen together “often.” They also believed that he and Rivas were romantically involved.

After Rivas’ death, the lyrics of D4vd’s songs became the subject of much scrutiny due to their violent nature.

In one of her most popular singles, ‘Romantic Homicide’, she describes the romantic interest of not being around anymore.

The last words of the 2022 song are “In the back of my mind I killed you… And I don’t even regret it… I can’t believe I said it… But it’s true… I hate you.”
