Bihar Elections: RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav promises permanent jobs and Rs 30,000/month for ‘Jeevika Didis’

In a bid to attract women voters, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday announced a series of poll promises to Jeevika CM (Community Mobilisers) Didis for the Bihar elections, including a monthly salary of Rs 30,000.
“Once we form our government, Jeevika CM (Community Mobilisers) Didis will be made permanent and they will be given a salary of Rs 30,000 per month. Interest on loans taken by Jeevika Didis will be waived. Interest-free loan will be given to Jeevika Didis for the next two years. Additional allowance of Rs 2,000 will also be given to Jeevika Didis. All Jeevika Didis will be given insurance value of Rs 5 lakh…” said RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.
“They distributed Rs 10,000 for Bihar women under Mai Bahin Maan Yojana, which is a bribe. Amit Shah himself said that it was a loan. This means they will get this money back. We will make another historic announcement today,” Yadav said.
Tejashwi Yadav announced that the future Mahagathbandhan government will waive interest on loans taken by Jeevika Didis and interest-free loans will be given for the next two years.
Who is Jeevika Didis?
JEEVIKA is a women’s socio-economic empowerment program in Bihar with the aim of diversifying and improving household-level incomes and improving access to and utilization of nutrition and sanitation services among rural households.
According to the Bihar government statement, “The program involves mobilization of women into interest-based Self-Help Groups, crop-specific producer groups and higher federations. These community institutions enable collective capacity building, better access to finance and public services and direct connectivity with markets.” The program was implemented in six districts of Bihar in 2007 under the World Bank-supported Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project (BRLP). JEEViKA is currently funded under the World Bank-supported Bihar Transformative Development Project (BTDP), NRLM and leverages significant resources from various livelihood and welfare programs at the state level.
“No work done in villages or cities is possible without Jeevika Didis. But they do not get anything. Since this government cannot meet their needs, it is our responsibility. The suffering of people does not affect the corrupt officials and the government,” Yadav said. he said.
Bihar LoP stated that additional allowance of Rs 2,000 will also be provided to Jeevika Didis and the government will provide insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh for all its cadres.
The big competition awaits us
Bihar Elections 2025 will witness a contest between the National Democratic Alliance and Mahagathbandhan. The NDA consists of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
In Mahagathbandhan led by Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress party, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPI-ML) led by Deepankar Bhattacharya, Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) is included.
Moreover, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj also claimed all 243 seats in the state.
The assembly elections in Bihar are scheduled to be held on November 6 and 11 respectively, while the results will be announced on November 14.
