Celebrity Traitors fans were once again left speechless at the end of Thursday’s episode because ‘one of the big dogs’ was the next star to be banished.

The deportation ceremony heated up as Jonathan Ross, Joe Marler, Nick Mohammad, David Olusoga and Stephen Fry found themselves in the spotlight.

But after all With four players – Jonathan, David, Nick and Cat Burns – convinced that Stephen was a Traitor, the game was chased from the castle, to the consternation of the faithful.

In his exit interview, Stephen shared: ‘It’s frustrating when the traitors do such a good job and there’s no technique.

‘Of course we’re fooling ourselves, which is incredibly stupid because you have to accept the fact that people can’t read lies and that people are clever frauds and frauds and there’s no way to tell.

‘If some people are accused at the roundtable, they sometimes resort to these convoluted, absurd excuses as to why they are undeniably Faithful. I just laughed when I was accused.

Finally, when four players were convinced that Stephen was a traitor, he was kicked out of the goal, leaving the other players in shock.

‘There’s nothing I can say to you if you think so, but I warn you that if you do it would be a Loyalist course of action and the Traitors would triumph again. This is the best I could find.’

Reflecting on his role as a loyalist on the programme, he said: ‘If I were a Traitor, I don’t think I could stand the pressure that’s coming right now.

‘I’d probably enjoy what they’re enjoying now, the giggles and giggles and the joy of victory. But if people conspire against you, you can’t help it emotionally.

‘Even if it’s just for a game, you start to feel hostility towards them. Tom when [Daley] He was killed, I couldn’t believe it. Because he was so excited, he wanted to stay longer, and that was his problem.

‘Tom was hypervigilant and everyone noticed. Maybe he should have invented a stupid personality to survive.’

With Stephen exiled, the traitor trio Jonathan, Alan and Cat once again had to choose the player they would kill.

The three at-risk people were told that instead of being killed privately, there would be a change, that the victim would be told face to face by the Traitors themselves.

Lucy Beaumont, Nick Mohammad and Kate Garraway headed to the giant chessboard after the day’s duty.

The banishment ceremony heated up as Jonathan Ross, Joe Marler, Nick Mohammad, David Olusoga and Stephen thrust themselves into the spotlight.

They were instructed to face the Traitors’ chess piece and return.

Those who were not killed would face Claudia, and the loyalists who were killed would face Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr and Cat Burns, who would break the news.

Viewers will find out who will be gone in next Wednesday’s episode, leaving only the nine loyalists and three traitors.

Desperate loyalists had voted in equal numbers for exiled historian David Olusoga and actor Mark Bonnar in Wednesday’s episode.

But with two votes left, host Claudia Winkleman was left to intervene and tell the contestants that Mark and David’s fate was now left to chance.

Claudia offered Mark and David two ballot boxes to choose from, one with a shield protecting them from exile, the other empty.

Mark Bonnar was revealed to be the last star to walk out of the gate after the round table vote was deadlocked, meaning his fate would be decided by chance.

After a few tense seconds, the pair opened their chests to reveal that David was safe from exile, while Mark’s chest was empty.

With the news that he had been kicked out of the game, it was up to the Line of Duty star to explain that he remained honest and loyal throughout the game, leaving players stunned.

Fans were equally saddened to see Mark leave the game and shared X’s sadness at his exile.

Speaking after his exit, Mark shared his disappointment at being kicked out of the never-before-seen Lucky Chest.

He said: ‘I’m really glad David is Sadik and I really hope he doesn’t go. I think he is a real asset to them and I hope that any doubts about him will disappear very quickly. I can’t see that happening though.

‘It was very dramatic and very emotional when that roundtable was decided by the Chancellor.

‘I was so caught up in the whole thing, but I hope it was a good TV moment. Even though I was sad to go, I thought they’d never done this before!’

Reflecting on his duty as a stalwart, he added: ‘Looking back I would have played a little differently; Not being as interested, not being as enthusiastic, not being open and forthright with theories.

‘Claudia said, “you know, remember, always keep your eyes open” or something like that.

‘I was doing this while observing absolutely everyone, I wasn’t sure I was subtle enough about it which put a huge target on my back!’
