India, US ‘very near’ to a trade agreement: Official

India and the US are “very close” to finalizing the proposed bilateral trade agreement (BTA) as both sides are converging on most issues, PTI reported, citing an unnamed official.

The official said that the two countries are working out the language of the trade agreement, as reported by PTI.

“We are very close to an agreement,” the said official said, adding that there is not much difference for a solution at the moment.
Negotiations regarding the agreement are continuing and there is no new issue that would hinder the negotiations. “We find common ground on most of the issues,” the official added.

Five rounds of trade talks have been completed so far for the first phase of the bilateral trade agreement between the US and India.
