Andrew’s past ‘catching up with him’ amid domestic row

The co-author of Virginia Giuffre’s memoirs says Prince Andrew’s behavior was “catching up with him” as he reportedly discussed leaving his home at the Royal Lodge.

The King’s brother is said to have approached Charles’ representatives about voluntarily leaving the Royal Lodge following anger over the “peppercorn” rent of his 30-room mansion, but was reluctant to give up his residence of more than 20 years.

The prince had renounced the title of Duke of York and other honors before Ms Giuffre’s posthumous memoirs were published last Friday, following allegations that he sexually assaulted her.

The Daily Telegraph said the sticking points in the talks were the location of his new home and financial compensation for the money spent on the hostel.

Amy Wallace, the book’s co-author, said Ms. Giuffre wanted “rich, powerful men to be held accountable.”

In an interview with the Associated Press, he said: “What we are watching is Prince Andrew’s life being eroded by his past behavior.

“Even though he hasn’t been tried in court, his behavior is catching up with him.”

Ms Wallace said Andrew could still reveal what he knew about late pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein and help victims of sexual abuse.

“We can say that he still denies what is written in this book. But it is not too late yet,” he said.

“He could have continued to brush aside the things he was accused of with Virginia. He could have still come forward. He was in those houses, he was on the island, he was on the private jet over and over.”

“She can still come forward and say to authorities: I want to validate these women’s experiences.”

Could Prince Andrew be prosecuted for his links to Jeffrey Epstein?

Prince Andrew may have renounced his royal titles, but his decline doesn’t appear to be over yet.

Once upon a time, Queen Elizabeth II. The royal, widely said to be Elizabeth’s favorite child, is facing calls to step away from public life for good as harrowing details of the allegations against him emerge in the memoir she wrote after Virginia Giuffre’s bombshell death.

The 65-year-old, who has denied any wrongdoing, is also under increasing pressure to give up his 30-bedroom royal mansion and cooperate with the FBI in its investigation into billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The Independent’s crime reporter Amy-Clare Martin explains:

What is the deal that means Prince Andrew can live in the Royal Lodge?

Prince Andrew has lived at the 30-room Royal Lodge mansion in Windsor Great Park for more than 20 years.

A copy of the lease shared by the Crown Estate shows Andrew signed a 75-year lease on the property in 2003.

It emerges that he paid £1 million in rent and has since paid a “peppercorn” annual rent “on demand”.

It was also required to pay a further £7.5 million for renovations completed in 2005, according to a report by the National Audit Office.

The agreement also includes a clause stating that the Crown Estate will have to pay Andrew around £558,000 if he gives up the lease.

The Public Accounts Committee will write to the Crown Estate and Treasury to raise “a range of questions” about Andrew’s lease of the property.

Where might Andrew move if he leaves the Royal Lodge?

Prince Andrew is reportedly in talks to voluntarily leave the Royal Lodge following anger over the “peppercorn” rent of his 30-room mansion.

Obstacles to reaching a deal include where Andrew, eighth in line to the throne, will live and what financial compensation he will receive for the money he spends renovating the house.

There are properties available to accommodate Andrew at the King’s private Balmoral estate in Scotland and Sandringham estate in Norfolk, but it is not yet known whether he would accept a smaller home away from his supportive daughters.

Andrew gives up title as Duke of York after email to Epstein saying ‘we are in this together’ emerges

Prince Andrew gave up the title of Duke of York and his remaining share of honors last Friday in a bid to avoid distracting from the affairs of the monarch and the royal family.

But he remains a prince living in the grand Royal Lodge, and the scandal continues to dominate the headlines.

Andrew’s announcement last week came after he consulted with the King and the Prince of Wales when it emerged that he had emailed pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein in 2011, saying “we are in this together”.

MPs will not be given time in the House of Commons to debate Andrew

Downing Street said MPs would not be given time in the House of Commons to discuss Prince Andrew’s behavior as the royal family wanted Parliament to focus on “important issues”.

The House of Commons could only debate Andrew’s friendship with pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein and his rent-free mansion if there was a formal motion, but the Government controls the bulk of parliamentary time.

Downing Street said there would be no time for debate in parliament, although MPs could examine the situation in committees.
