More than two decades ago, Marcus Wesson, who seemed like a doting father to the outside world, committed a crime so horrific that those who witnessed the aftermath have never fully recovered.
The former soldier abused his wife and children, including children he fathered, for three decades. After serving in Vietnam, Wesson became involved with Rosemary Solorio and moved in with her and their eight children.
In 1971, Rosemary gave birth to Wesson’s son, and just three years later the perverted demon began sexually abusing his partner’s daughter Elizabeth, who was only eight years old at the time. When Elizabeth was 14 and Wesson was 34, they married, and four months later Elizabeth gave birth to their first child.
The couple had 10 children in total; Among them was a baby who tragically passed away. Moreover, one of Elizabeth’s younger sisters left her seven children to the couple, citing her drug problem as the reason for her inability to care for her seven children.
Wesson was a cruel husband and father. According to reports, he never worked, living off welfare payments and the money he forced his children to give directly to him. Mirror.
By 1989 he had been convicted of welfare fraud and perjury, and the family was often forced to live in abandoned houses, dilapidated shacks, and even boats.
But the most horrific events took place behind closed doors. Wesson subjected his wife and children to abuse, forbade Elizabeth from having any input in their upbringing, and insisted that they all be home-schooled.

Wesson wrote his own perverted version of the Bible, claiming that Jesus was a vampire, and convinced his children that he was God. They were told to address him as Master or Lord and the entire family was instructed to prepare for Armageddon.
Their daughters were informed that they should prepare themselves to be their future spouses through training, including lessons on how to perform oral sex, starting from the age of eight. Wesson sexually assaulted his two daughters and three nieces, causing all five to become pregnant.
The children’s chores included washing Wesson’s dreadlocks, armpits, and head, and the siblings were forbidden from talking to siblings of the opposite sex or their own mother.
Later, in 2004, Wesson announced that the entire family would be moving from Fresno, California, to Washington, where his parents reside. On March 12, members of his extended family and his two nephews, who had rebelled and escaped from the house of horrors, arrived to demand the children’s release.
Police were called for what was believed to be a child custody dispute, and when officers arrived, Wesson asked them to wait at the door while he returned to his home. When he reappeared, his clothes were covered in blood.
The police, who at first denied that they heard gunshots, encountered a terrible sight when they entered the house.
Nine bodies lay in a bedroom filled with antique coffins; each victim had been shot directly in the eye.
All victims: Sebhrenah April Wesson, 25, Elizabeth Breahi Kina Wesson, 17, Illabelle Carrie Wesson, eight, Aviv Dominique Wesson, seven, Johnathon St Charles Wesson, seven, Ethan St Laurent Wesson, four, Marshey St Christopher Wesson, one, Jeva St Vladensvspry Wesson, one, and Sedona Vadra Wesson, one – were their children.
Current Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer, who was police chief at the time, admits that the scene still haunts him.
Mr Dyer said: “This was truly horrific, the worst mass murder we’ve ever had in the history of our city and it wasn’t just about the killing of nine people, it was about how they were killed, it was the lifestyle that took place in that house, Marcus Wesson convinced his family that he was God, that Jesus was a vampire.”
Defense attorney Ralph Torres, who served on the court-appointed Wesson defense team, also carries chilling memories of the crime. He said it was a career he will never forget throughout his extensive 34-year career.
Mr Torres said: “I see all the evidence, the most heartbreaking part of the case was that I was a young father. “I had a young son of five and there was a boy looking from behind like my child.
“It was life-changing; I’ve never seen anything like it before. I’ve handled 16 murder cases since then and there’s nothing like it.”
According to ABC 30, the house where the horrific murders took place was demolished, leaving only an empty lot.
“There is no way this property could exist or continue to exist without bringing back terrible memories and property values depreciating,” Mr Dyer said.
Today, Marcus Wesson, now 79 years old, remains incarcerated at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center after being sentenced to death on June 17, 2005. He no longer faces the death penalty after Governor Newsom halted executions in California in 2019 and subsequently abolished death row.
But Dyer, who visited Wesson in prison in 2008, still feels anger.
“Marcus Wesson was a bad person. He is someone, as I told the national media, he deserved the death penalty then, he deserves the death penalty today. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that will be the case,” Dyer said.
