Crisafulli government appoints Bob Gee as Victims Commissioner

“Our focus is on making sure they are fewer in number and that those who are victimized are treated with respect and kindness. [and] There is a system to protect them.

“I think most people understand that when people serve in a public service, they are implementing government policy.”

Gee will replace O’Connor, who left office in August this year following the emergence of DVConnect, a separate government service aimed at supporting victims of domestic violence, which he previously oversaw. failed to respond to a significant number of calls.

At his lowest point in October last year, a few months after he left office, only two out of five calls were reportedly answered.

Gee will leave her role as secretary of the CFMEU Commission of Inquiry to take up the position of Victims Commissioner.
