Centre planning to reduce aqua feed prices: Union Minister

Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivas Varma on Sunday said the Center is working on a workable action plan to address the sharp rise in aquafeed prices in Andhra Pradesh.

Representatives of the state aqua farmers met Mr. Srinivas Varma in Bhimavaram and discussed the challenges faced by the aquaculture sector.

Mr. Srinivas Varma said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with a delegation of Members of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh, had recently urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal to intervene in the matter.

He said that the center is considering measures to reduce aquaculture feed prices and a statement on this issue is expected soon.
