President Donald Trump and Gov. Glenn Youngkin chaired a tele-rally for the entire Virginia Republican ticket on Thursday, as the commander-in-chief has yet to formally endorse Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears’ bid for governor.
Running to replace the term-limited Youngkin, Earle-Sears’ ticket includes Richmond broadcaster John Reid for lieutenant governor, Attorney General Jason Miyares and the entire GOP caucus in the House, which is hoping to win a tough fight to win the three seats needed to retake the majority.
Recent polls show Miyares has the best current statistical chance of winning his race, and the scandal-plagued former Del. Jay Jones showed that he is ahead of D-Norfolk. While Reid is tied or within the margin of error for state Sen. Ghazala Hashmi, D-Chesterfield.
But Earle-Sears trails former Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger by several points; but his campaign had previously stated that they viewed the race as much closer.

A source familiar with the event said Youngkin called on Virginians to give their full support, emphasizing that Earle-Sears will continue her “common-sense, conservative leadership that has yielded results under Governor Youngkin.”
Youngkin and Trump made incredibly clear the difference between the Republican ticket’s platform and the “extreme, far-left policies” of past governors.
NEW POLL SHOWS SINGLE-DIGIT RACE IN IMPORTANT CONTEST FOR VIRGINIA GOVERNOR
Fox News Digital has reached out to the Republican National Committee for further comment on Trump’s appearance; A source familiar with the rally said the event closely mirrored the event four years ago that helped Youngkin edge out statistically favored Democrat Terry McAuliffe.
“The President organized a tele-rally” [Youngkin] He won by 60,000 votes the day before the election; That was the difference.”
Youngkin outperformed expectations in both the red and blue areas in that election.

Although Youngkin did not win any of the collar counties in Washington, D.C., including Loudoun, Fairfax, Arlington, and the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church, he narrowed the Republican gap compared to past elections.
That improvement, combined with overwhelming margins in deep-red southwestern counties like Lee, Wise, Dickenson and Tazewell, helped secure his victory.
Both Youngkin and Trump expressed hope that Earle-Sears could replicate that formula against favorite Democrat Spanberger.

But Trump has refused to officially endorse Earle-Sears during this cycle.
But he has also endorsed Jack Ciattarelli for governor of similarly blue-leaning New Jersey; though the former councilman is trending better in the polls than Earle-Sears.
A source familiar with Youngkin’s 2021 run noted that the two men remained at arm’s length for much of the campaign.

Republicans often face the delicate balancing act of energizing their base and attracting independents without mobilizing anti-Trump voters in Virginia’s most densely populated areas.
But Earle-Sears has attracted popular hitters from out of state in recent days:
On Wednesday, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier—a rising star in that state’s Republican circles who helped build Alligator Alcatraz and battled blue states over sanctuary policies—headlined a rally on behalf of Sears in New Baltimore.
Uthmeier was joined by Earle-Sears, Miyares and Dels. Ian Lovejoy, R-Nokesville, and Geary Higgins, R-Lovettsville, face tough races as Washington’s Democratic diaspora moves further west to Virginia’s more conservative borders.
Lovejoy said the election will decide one of the “simplest” but most important questions: “Who is responsible for your children?”
Virginia House Minority Rep. Michael Webert, R-Warrenton, also spoke, warning voters that not only was the Virginia governorship up for grabs, but their federal representation was coming for years to come.

“A million people already voted and didn’t know we were going to get this,” Webert said.
“This is what our election is about. Isn’t this the disenfranchisement of voters? The whole reason is that you all… need to vote.”
